Bill Update

Assembly Bill 1600

Most of you will remember, Assembly Bill 1600 was introduced into the California Legislature that would set up a California America 250 Commission. To the many of you who let your representatives know that you supported the bill, thank you. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, it was not successful.

The CASSAR America 250 SAR committee will try again to have it reintroduced in early 2023. Obviously, more effort will be needed to get this through the California Assembly. The committee will keep you informed of how you can help as we get closer to a reintroduction of the bill.

Surprising as it may be that this bill did not pass, it should be a reminder of how important our mission is in this time of our 250th Anniversary celebration. Most Americans are not aware of the history and importance of the American Revolution. By partaking in SAR’s 250th Anniversary Recognition program and sharing it with others, we can show not only its relevance to our American society, but also its uniqueness in human history.

For any comments on the reintroduction of AB 1600. Please contact John Ferris at jrf1776@outlook.com or Dave Gilliard dave@gbacampaigns.com .
